Abbottabad chase 202 to beat Karachi Blues National T20 Cup

Abbottabad produced a commanding run chase against Karachi Blues in the National T20 Cup to secure an eight-wicket victory in the seventh match of the tournament at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar on Tuesday.

Chasing a challenging target of 202, Abbottabad reached the total with 20 balls remaining, thanks largely to aggressive half-centuries from Shahzaib Khan and Kamran Ghulam.

Karachi Blues post 201/4

After being asked to bat first, Karachi Blues put up an imposing total of 201 for 4 in their 20 overs.

Right-handed opener Ahsan Ali led the charge for the 2016 champions, scoring 67 from 36 deliveries. His innings included seven fours and three sixes.

He received solid support from fellow opener Jahanzaib Sultan, who scored 42 from 29 balls. Wicketkeeper batter Usman Khan also contributed significantly with 40 from 25 deliveries.

For Abbottabad, Shadab Khan was the most effective bowler, finishing with figures of 2 for 32 from his four overs. Shahab Khan and Arshad Iqbal claimed one wicket each.

Shahzaib and Ghulam lead Abbottabad chase

Abbottabad’s pursuit of 202 did not begin smoothly as opener Sajjad Ali Hashmi was dismissed for one with the score at 18.

However, Shahzaib Khan and Kamran Ghulam then combined to put Abbottabad firmly in control with a rapid 115-run partnership for the second wicket.

The stand was eventually broken by Khalil Ahmed, who dismissed Shahzaib after an impressive knock of 75 from 38 balls. His innings featured 11 fours and three sixes.

Ghulam then continued the chase alongside Khushdil Shah. The pair added an unbeaten 70-run partnership to guide Abbottabad to victory in the 17th over.

Kamran Ghulam finished as the top scorer for Abbottabad with an unbeaten 81 from 42 deliveries, striking 11 fours and two sixes.

Khushdil Shah remained not out on 38 from 16 balls, hitting four fours and two sixes.

For Karachi Blues, Jahandad Khan and Khalil Ahmed managed to claim one wicket each.

Abbottabad move top of Group B

The convincing win lifted Abbottabad to the top of the Group B standings in the National T20 Cup.

With two wins from two matches, the side now sits on four points after edging past Karachi Blues in the table.
