PSL 11 final to be played in Lahore with fans
The PSL 11 final will be played in front of spectators after government approval, with the showpiece scheduled for May 3 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. It will be the only match in PSL 2026 to feature a full crowd after the rest of the tournament was held behind closed doors.
Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the move following requests from franchise owners and the board.
“I requested Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to allow spectators in the stadiums,” Naqvi said. “While he was also inclined to permit fans, he emphasised that austerity measures are currently in place across Pakistan, with efforts underway to minimize fuel consumption. However, on the request of franchise owners, he has graciously approved the presence of fans for the PSL 11 Final. I sincerely thank him for this decision and for facilitating the fans.”
Why the tournament was behind closed doors
PSL 2026 had initially been played without fans due to a fuel-saving policy introduced amid an energy crisis linked to supply disruptions following the West Asia crisis. As part of these measures, the tournament was also reduced to just two venues — Lahore and Karachi — instead of the originally planned six.
Naqvi had earlier announced on March 22 that matches would take place in empty stadiums, while leaving open the possibility of crowds returning in the latter stages depending on how the situation evolved. However, that scenario did not materialise during the league phase.
Growing pressure leads to final decision
Throughout the tournament, matches were attended only by a limited number of individuals, including special guests and sponsor-related attendees. As the competition progressed, calls for fan access grew louder, particularly from franchise owners.
The decision to allow spectators only for the final reflects that sustained push, with the PCB yet to announce details regarding ticket sales or distribution.
What this means for the final
The PSL 11 final now stands apart from the rest of the season, becoming the only match where players will perform in front of a full crowd. After weeks of empty stands, the shift is set to change the atmosphere significantly at the Gaddafi Stadium.
With the tournament having been shaped by restrictions from the outset, the final will mark a clear departure from those conditions, restoring a key element of the PSL experience for its biggest game.
