Hinge’s Debut Stuns Royals as SRH Win Big

Praful Hinge celebrates wickets on IPL debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad delivered a commanding performance in IPL 2026 as debutant Praful Hinge produced a historic spell to dismantle Rajasthan Royals and seal a 57-run victory.

While Ishan Kishan’s blistering 91 powered SRH to 216 for 6, it was Hinge’s sensational opening over that defined the match, as Rajasthan Royals were bowled out for 159.

Hinge scripts historic debut

Praful Hinge, a 24-year-old from Vidarbha, made an unforgettable entry into the IPL by taking three wickets in his very first over — a first in the tournament’s 18-year history.

He struck immediately, dismissing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for a golden duck with a top-edged pull. On the very next ball, he removed Dhruv Jurel, who chopped on. Hinge then capped off a remarkable over by having Lhuan-dre Pretorius caught at long leg.

His early burst left Rajasthan reeling and set the tone for the rest of the innings.

Sakib Hussain joins the collapse

At the other end, debutant Sakib Hussain matched Hinge’s impact with a superb spell of his own, finishing with 4 for 24.

He removed Yashasvi Jaiswal early, forcing a mistimed ramp to deep third, reducing Rajasthan to 2 for 4. The collapse deepened to 9 for 5 when Hinge added Riyan Parag to his tally.

Sakib’s variations proved difficult to handle, and he struck twice in consecutive deliveries later in the innings to dismiss Jofra Archer and Ravi Bishnoi.

The two debutants combined for extraordinary figures of 8 for 58, effectively deciding the contest inside the powerplay.

Ferreira and Jadeja fight back

Rajasthan Royals found some resistance through Donovan Ferreira and Ravindra Jadeja, who added a 50-run stand for the sixth wicket.

Ferreira played a fluent innings of 69, bringing up his maiden IPL half-century off 31 balls. He was particularly effective against spin, using both front-foot and back-foot play to keep the scoreboard moving.

Jadeja supported well with 45, and the pair briefly lifted the scoring rate with a 50-run burst in four overs. However, the steep required rate proved too much, and their dismissals in consecutive overs ended any hopes of a comeback.

Kishan leads SRH’s batting charge

Earlier, SRH posted a formidable 216 for 6, built around a dominant 91 from Ishan Kishan.

Kishan reached his half-century off 30 balls, showcasing his range with five sixes, including a powerful slog sweep off Ravi Bishnoi. He also shared a rapid 50-run stand with Heinrich Klaasen, who contributed 40.

Travis Head added to the platform with a quick start, putting on 55 with Kishan before falling in the seventh over.

Despite Kishan falling short of a century, valuable late contributions from Nitish Kumar Reddy and Salil Arora ensured SRH crossed the 200 mark comfortably.

Jofra Archer was the pick of the bowlers for Rajasthan, finishing with figures of 2 for 37.

What this means

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s emphatic win highlights the impact of fresh talent, with two debutants turning the game decisively. For Rajasthan Royals, the defeat ends their four-match winning streak and exposes vulnerabilities at the top order under pressure.
