Fakhar, Farooq end Qalandars losing streak

Lahore Qalandars snapped their losing run with a commanding victory in vs Rawalpindiz, securing a 32-run win to eliminate the bottom-placed side from PSL 2026.

Lahore posted 210 for 4, powered by Fakhar Zaman’s 84 and Mohammad Farooq’s 63, before restricting Rawalpindiz to 178 for 9. The result lifts Qalandars to six points alongside three other teams, while Rawalpindiz become the first side to be knocked out of the tournament.

Fakhar, Farooq set up Qalandars’ best total

After losing the toss, Lahore chose to bat first and made full use of the opportunity. Farooq provided early momentum in the powerplay, consistently finding gaps and clearing the infield with authority.

Fakhar Zaman initially took time to settle but gradually imposed himself on the innings. He struck 84 off 54 balls, including 11 boundaries and a six, anchoring the innings deep into the 19th over.

The pair’s efforts helped Qalandars post 210 for 4 — their highest total of the season. Rawalpindiz’s bowling resources were stretched, with 13 overs shared between Cole McConchie, Razaullah, Saad Masood and Daryl Mitchell.

Early collapse derails Rawalpindiz chase

Rawalpindiz once again struggled at the top. Their new opening combination featuring Shahzaib Khan alongside Mohammad Rizwan failed immediately, with both dismissed inside three balls of Shaheen Shah Afridi’s second over.

Neither batter reached double figures, continuing a worrying trend that has plagued Rawalpindiz throughout the tournament.

Yasir fights lone battle as wickets tumble

Yasir Khan provided a brief spark with an aggressive counterattack. His 58 off 29 balls kept Rawalpindiz in the contest during the powerplay and early middle overs.

He shared a 71-run partnership with Daryl Mitchell, though the latter managed only 11 off 15 balls, highlighting the lack of support.

Once Yasir departed, the innings collapsed rapidly. Rawalpindiz lost six wickets for 46 runs as Haris Rauf, Usama Mir and Sikandar Raza took control and closed out the game.

Late cameo not enough to change result

Saad Masood struck a quick 50 off 21 balls late in the innings, taking advantage of a slight dip in Qalandars’ intensity. However, by that stage, the result was already beyond doubt.

Qalandars remained firmly in control throughout the chase, and the margin of defeat did not fully reflect their dominance.

What this result means

This win keeps Lahore Qalandars alive in PSL 2026, moving them to six points and back into the mid-table mix. For Rawalpindiz, however, the defeat confirms their elimination. Their struggles with both bat and consistency throughout the season have ultimately cost them a place in the playoffs.
