Miller, Stubbs seal last-over thriller as DC stun RCB
Delhi Capitals edged a dramatic last-over win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru, with David Miller and Tristan Stubbs holding their nerve to complete a six-wicket chase in IPL 2026.
In a game that swung repeatedly, DC chased down 176 with a ball to spare, finishing on 179 for 4 after RCB had posted 175 for 8 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Miller finishes what he started
With 15 required off the final over bowled by Romario Shepherd, the equation tightened quickly. Miller could only manage a single off the first ball, while Stubbs added another, leaving 13 needed from four deliveries.
Miller then turned the match decisively. He struck two consecutive sixes before sealing the contest with a boundary, finishing the chase in emphatic fashion.
It marked a turnaround moment for Miller, who had found himself in a similar situation earlier in the season against Gujarat Titans but failed to close out that game.
RCB start fast through Kohli and Salt
Earlier, Virat Kohli and Phil Salt gave RCB a brisk start after being asked to bat first on a slower-than-usual Chinnaswamy pitch.
Kohli struck 19 off 13 balls with a couple of fluent boundaries before falling to Lungi Ngidi in the final over of the powerplay.
Salt initially struggled for fluency but accelerated impressively, reaching his half-century off 30 balls. He went on to top-score with 63 off 38 before falling to Kuldeep Yadav.
Spin slows RCB in middle overs
RCB’s innings lost momentum through the middle phase as Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav applied sustained pressure.
Axar removed Devdutt Padikkal, while Kuldeep accounted for Salt and Romario Shepherd. Tim David briefly counterattacked with 26 off 15 balls, but his dismissal further stalled RCB.
RCB managed only two boundaries in the last six overs and finished with 175 for 8, a total that looked slightly below par at the innings break.
Bhuvneshwar rattles DC early
RCB made a strong start with the ball as Bhuvneshwar Kumar produced a superb opening spell.
He dismissed Nissanka early before removing Karun Nair and Sameer Rizvi in quick succession, leaving DC struggling at 18 for 3 inside three overs.
Rahul and Stubbs rebuild the chase
KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs stabilised the innings with a crucial partnership.
Rahul played a fluent knock of 57 off 34 balls, striking cleanly against both pace and spin before falling to Krunal Pandya.
Stubbs initially took time to settle but accelerated effectively later in the innings. He remained unbeaten on 60, anchoring the chase under pressure.
The pair, along with contributions from Axar Patel, brought DC back into contention after the early collapse.
Late tension before final flourish
DC needed 42 off 25 balls at one stage, and RCB tightened the screws through Bhuvneshwar and Josh Hazlewood with disciplined death bowling.
Stubbs briefly eased the pressure with a six in the 18th over, but the match remained in the balance heading into the final over.
Miller’s late burst ultimately decided the contest, handing DC a crucial win.
What this means
Delhi Capitals’ victory highlights their ability to recover from early setbacks and finish under pressure. For RCB, despite strong moments with both bat and ball, the inability to close out the final overs proved costly in a tightly contested match.
