Rinku and Narine seal Super Over win for KKR
Kolkata Knight Riders edged a dramatic Super Over finish after both sides were tied at 155, with Rinku Singh and Sunil Narine delivering decisive moments against Lucknow Super Giants. The game turned late, with Rinku’s explosive finish and Narine’s clinical Super Over sealing a tense victory.
KKR posted 155 for 7 before restricting LSG to 155 for 8, eventually winning via Super Over in a match defined by errors and late swings.
Rinku transforms the match in final over
KKR were struggling at 129 for 7 after 19 overs before Rinku Singh completely changed the momentum. He took apart Digvesh Rathi with four consecutive sixes in a 26-run final over.
Rinku remained unbeaten on 83 off 51 balls, his highest score in T20 cricket. His late surge lifted KKR to a competitive total that had looked unlikely earlier in the innings.
That final over proved decisive, as the additional runs forced LSG to chase aggressively in the closing stages.
Mohsin dismantles KKR top order
Earlier, Mohsin Khan produced a standout spell, claiming 5 for 23 to derail KKR’s innings.
He dismissed Tim Seifert for a duck with a sharp 142.4kph delivery before removing Ajinkya Rahane with a slower ball that resulted in a miscued shot.
Mohsin continued to strike, removing Rovman Powell and Cameron Green before dismissing Anukul Roy to complete his five-wicket haul. His spell left KKR at 73 for 6 before Rinku’s rescue act.
Raghuvanshi dismissed in rare incident
A turning point came when Angkrish Raghuvanshi was given out obstructing the field.
After setting off for a single, he changed direction to avoid a direct hit and ended up blocking the throw with his body. The TV umpire ruled that he had “clearly changed his direction”, leading to his dismissal.
The decision visibly frustrated Raghuvanshi, who reacted angrily as he left the field.
LSG fall short despite late surge
Lucknow Super Giants began cautiously. Vaibhav Arora removed Mitchell Marsh early, and LSG reached 37 for 1 in the powerplay.
Rishabh Pant (42) and Aiden Markram (31) attempted to rebuild, but both fell while trying to accelerate. Nicholas Pooran continued his struggles, managing 9 off 12 balls before being dismissed.
At 93 for 5, LSG appeared out of contention, needing 63 from 28 balls. However, Himmat Singh and George Linde revived hopes before Mohammed Shami struck a last-ball six off Kartik Tyagi to tie the match.
Narine dominates Super Over
The Super Over proved one-sided. Sunil Narine removed Nicholas Pooran with the first ball and had Aiden Markram dismissed soon after, leaving LSG with just a single run added by Rishabh Pant.
Rinku again played a key role in the field, completing a relay catch after Rovman Powell’s effort at the boundary.
Chasing a minimal target, Rinku finished the match in style, striking Prince Yadav’s first ball for four.
What this result means
KKR’s victory was shaped by two defining phases — Rinku’s late assault and Narine’s control in the Super Over.
From 129 for 7 to forcing a tie and then closing out the game, KKR turned a losing position into a win. The result highlights how late-innings hitting and composure in pressure moments can completely reshape T20 contests.
