Zalmi storm into PSL 11 playoffs with dominant run
Peshawar Zalmi have officially secured their place in the PSL 11 playoffs after a commanding run in the league stage, becoming the first team to confirm qualification this season.
The 2017 champions sit top of the standings with 13 points from seven matches, a tally that guarantees a top-four finish after Quetta Gladiators defeated Lahore Qalandars by six wickets at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
Consistent run powers Zalmi to qualification
Zalmi’s campaign began with a five-wicket victory over debutants RawalPindiz in a high-scoring contest. Their next fixture against Islamabad United in Lahore was washed out due to rain, but that did little to halt their momentum.
They followed it up with a sequence of wins over Hyderabad Kingsmen, Karachi Kings, defending champions Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators. This string of results firmly established them at the top of the table.
With 13 points already secured, no fourth-placed team can surpass their tally by the end of the league stage, confirming their progression to the playoffs.
Fixtures ahead before knockout stage
Despite qualification, Zalmi still have key league matches remaining. They are set to face Quetta Gladiators again at the National Bank Stadium on Sunday.
The team will then travel to Lahore for two more fixtures, where they will take on Karachi Kings on April 22 and Lahore Qalandars on April 25.
These matches will play a role in determining final standings and potential playoff positioning.
Playoff race remains wide open
While Zalmi have sealed their place, the battle for the remaining playoff spots remains intense. All seven other teams are still in contention for qualification.
Islamabad United currently occupy second position with nine points from seven matches, while Multan Sultans are close behind with eight points, having played one game fewer.
What this means
Zalmi’s early qualification underlines their consistency and control throughout PSL 11, placing them in a strong position heading into the knockout stage. With multiple teams still fighting for the remaining spots, the league phase is set for a tightly contested finish.
