Yorkshire have secured the services of Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali as an overseas signing for the Vitality Blast, stepping in as a replacement for the injured Naveen-ul-Haq.

The move sees Hasan Ali join Yorkshire for the T20 Blast campaign, with the experienced pacer expected to play a key role after Naveen was ruled out due to a stress fracture in his right shoulder.

Injury setback for Naveen-ul-Haq

Naveen-ul-Haq had originally been signed as Yorkshire’s overseas player but will miss the competition after suffering a stress fracture that also forced him out of the T20 World Cup in February.

The Afghanistan quick will now be unable to take up his deal at Headingley, prompting Yorkshire to act swiftly in securing a replacement.

Hasan Ali brings experience and form

Hasan, 31, arrives with significant T20 pedigree, having represented Pakistan 57 times in the format and featured in multiple franchise leagues around the world.

He has previous experience in English domestic cricket, claiming 44 wickets at an average of 14.93 across three Vitality Blast spells with Warwickshire between 2023 and 2025. He has also played red-ball cricket for Lancashire.

Currently in strong form in the PSL, Hasan adds both experience and proven effectiveness in English conditions to Yorkshire’s squad.

Availability confirmed for key fixtures

Yorkshire expect Hasan to be available throughout the Vitality Blast group stage. In addition, he is set to feature in two County Championship matches against Warwickshire and Leicestershire.

Gavin Hamilton, Yorkshire’s general manager of cricket, welcomed the signing, stating: “Whilst we’re naturally disappointed to not see Naveen join us this year, in Hasan we have an exceptional replacement.

“He arrives with a wealth of experience and a skillset that we believe will be invaluable to the group. We’re delighted to have secured someone of Hasan’s quality at such short notice, and everyone at the Club is looking forward to welcoming him to Headingley next month.”

What this means

Yorkshire’s move ensures continuity despite losing Naveen-ul-Haq, with Hasan Ali offering both experience and recent form. In franchise cricket, late replacements are common, but securing a player of Hasan’s calibre strengthens Yorkshire’s chances heading into the Vitality Blast.
