Sialkot Stallionz Rebranded as Multan Sultans After CD Ventures Takeover Ahead of PSL Season 11

The Pakistan Super League is set for a significant shift ahead of the upcoming season, with Sialkot Stallions officially rebranded as Multan Sultans following a majority takeover by CD Ventures.

Franchise owner Ali Nadeem confirmed the development, announcing that the new identity reflects fresh investment and a renewed long-term vision for the team.

CD Ventures secured a controlling 51.85 percent stake in the franchise during the PSL auction process in January. The acquisition reportedly raised the franchise’s valuation to approximately Rs2 billion.

Nadeem described the transition as part of a strategic restructuring approved by both the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the PSL governing body. Gohar Shah has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer under the new management structure.

“With PCB and PSL approval, the strategic partnership has been finalised,” Nadeem stated. “CD Ventures is now our strategic partner and will oversee the franchise’s future direction.”

A Return to Identity

Despite the ownership change, Nadeem emphasised that retaining the “Sultans” identity was important to the franchise’s philosophy.

“A tradition is also a team’s DNA. It means forward, a sultanic legacy, and we have come as Sultans,” he said.

He also highlighted a broader cricketing vision centred on what he described as “Total Cricket.”

“Cricket should be dynamic in a way that serves Pakistan cricket’s needs. The squad selected is correct. Final decisions on the playing XI and other matters will be taken once the squad is finalised,” he added.

Addressing Financial Speculation

The franchise had faced speculation in recent weeks regarding internal financial matters, particularly after CD Ventures acquired shares from previous stakeholders. Nadeem dismissed suggestions of instability, clarifying that discussions were strictly related to the strategic investment.

He also reassured supporters that Sialkot’s fanbase remains central to the club’s identity despite the relocation to Multan.

“We are grateful to Sialkot Stallions fans for their engagement,” he said. “We will be at the forefront of the Stallions’ identity within our campaigns.”

Efforts will be made to facilitate supporters who wish to attend Multan Sultans matches, ensuring continuity between the previous identity and the franchise’s new chapter.

Looking Ahead to the PSL Season

With the PSL season scheduled to commence on 26 March, the rebranded Multan Sultans will enter the campaign under new leadership and renewed ambition.

The move represents one of the most notable franchise developments ahead of the new season — signalling structural change and an effort to modernise the club’s long-term direction.
