Sahibzada Farhan Nominated for ICC Player of the Month
Sahibzada Farhan has been nominated for the ICC Player of the Month award for February 2026 following his outstanding performances during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
The International Cricket Council announced the nominees on Monday, with Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan joined by England all-rounder Will Jacks and USA fast bowler Shadley van Schalkwyk.
Farhan enjoyed a remarkable run with the bat in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, finishing as the tournament’s highest run-scorer.
The right-handed opener set a new record for the most runs in a single edition of the tournament, surpassing Virat Kohli’s previous record of 319 runs set during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2014.
Farhan scored a total of 383 runs in the competition while maintaining an impressive strike rate of 160.25 and an average of 76.60.
He also became the first batter to score two centuries in a single edition of the Men’s T20 World Cup, reaching three figures against Namibia and Sri Lanka.
His prolific performances played a key role in helping Pakistan reach the Super 8 stage of the tournament, where they narrowly missed out on a place in the semi-finals.
Will Jacks among the contenders
England all-rounder Will Jacks also earned a nomination after producing impactful performances with both bat and ball during the tournament.
The 27-year-old scored 194 runs at a strike rate of 173.21 while also claiming 11 wickets with an economy rate slightly above eight.
Jacks’ consistent performances earned him four Player of the Match awards, the most by any player in a single edition of the Men’s T20 World Cup.
He delivered particularly important contributions in the Super 8 stage against Sri Lanka and New Zealand, helping England finish top of Group 2.
Van Schalkwyk shines with the ball
USA fast bowler Shadley van Schalkwyk also impressed during the tournament and emerged as one of the leading wicket-takers.
The right-arm pacer claimed 13 wickets across the competition.
He made an immediate impact in USA’s opening match against India, where he picked up four wickets.
Van Schalkwyk later produced identical figures of 4/25 against Pakistan during the group stage, highlighting his consistency throughout the tournament.
Alongside his wicket-taking ability, the pacer also maintained an impressive economy rate of 7.76.
