PSL 11: Rossouw, bowlers power Gladiators past Pindiz

Rilee Rossouw batting for Quetta Gladiators in PSL 11 match

Quetta Gladiators delivered a dominant all-round performance in PSL 11, with Rilee Rossouw anchoring the innings before the bowlers dismantled RawalPindiz to seal a commanding 61-run victory at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.

Chasing 184, Pindiz never found momentum and were bowled out for 121 in 17.3 overs. Saad Masood fought a lone battle with a brisk 31 off 19 balls, while Daryl Mitchell contributed 30 off 32. Yasir Khan (22) and Abdullah Fazal (20) were the only other batters to reach double figures.

Usman Tariq, Jahandad Khan and captain Saud Shakeel led the bowling effort with two wickets each, while Kashif Bhatti and Abrar Ahmed picked up one apiece.

Rossouw, Saud stabilise Gladiators

After being put into bat, Quetta Gladiators posted 182 for 6 in their 20 overs. Their innings began shakily when debutant Sam Harper was dismissed for eight on the first ball of the fourth over with just 22 on the board.

Rossouw then partnered Saud Shakeel to rebuild the innings with an 87-run stand for the second wicket. The pair played with control, ensuring the Gladiators recovered from the early setback.

Rossouw top-scored with 53 off 42 deliveries, hitting six fours and a six, before Mubasir Khan broke the partnership in the 15th over. Saud followed soon after, dismissed by Ben Sears for 42 off 39 balls, including three boundaries.

Late surge pushes Gladiators past 180

Quetta’s innings briefly stalled when Mohammad Amir removed Khawaja Nafay and Bevon Jacobs in successive overs, reducing them to 156 for 6 in 16.2 overs.

However, Hasan Nawaz provided a crucial late boost with a rapid 39 off just 16 balls, smashing five sixes. Jahandad Khan added further impetus with an unbeaten 21 off six deliveries, striking two sixes and two fours.

Ben Sears was the standout bowler for Pindiz, finishing with 3 for 41 in four overs, while Amir claimed two wickets and Mubasir Khan took one.

Pindiz collapse under pressure

In response, RawalPindiz struggled from the outset and never recovered. Their batting lineup failed to cope with the disciplined Gladiators attack, slipping to 121 all out inside 18 overs.

Despite brief resistance from Masood and Mitchell, the lack of partnerships proved costly. The Gladiators maintained control throughout, ensuring there was no route back for the chasing side.

What this means

This emphatic win strengthens Quetta Gladiators’ position in PSL 11 and highlights their balance with both bat and ball. For RawalPindiz, the defeat underlines ongoing struggles in both departments, with improvements needed to stay competitive as the tournament progresses.
