Kings recover to post competitive total
After being put in to bat at Gaddafi Stadium, Karachi Kings made a shaky start as Alzarri Joseph dismissed Muhammad Waseem in the first over.
However, David Warner and Salman Agha counterattacked, adding 44 runs in four overs. Agha scored 22 off 10 before falling to Ahmed Daniyal, while Saad Baig supported Warner as the Kings progressed strongly through the first ten overs.
The innings then slowed significantly. Moeen Ali and Azam Khan struggled during a 17-ball stand that produced just nine runs, allowing Quetta Gladiators to regain control.
Late acceleration from Moeen Ali proved crucial, as his unbeaten 48 off 29 balls lifted Karachi Kings past 180, finishing on 181 for 7. Daniyal was the standout bowler with 3 for 36.
Gladiators start strong but lose momentum
Quetta Gladiators began their chase aggressively with Shamyl Hussain leading the charge with a rapid 52, bringing up his half-century off just 21 balls. He struck boundaries off nine of the 24 deliveries he faced, helping Quetta reach 75 in the Powerplay.
However, the innings lost momentum soon after. Adam Zampa applied pressure with a tight spell, conceding just five runs in his first over and then dismissing Khawaja Nafay.
Salman Agha then removed Shamyl, triggering a collapse as the required rate climbed steadily.
Hasan Ali turns the game
Hasan Ali produced a match-winning spell of 4 for 27, recovering from an expensive start to dismantle the Gladiators’ middle order.
He dismissed Rilee Rossouw and then claimed three wickets in the penultimate over, effectively ending the chase.
Mir Hamza closed out the innings by defending 30 runs in the final over, sealing a 14-run victory for Karachi Kings.
What this result means
This win gives Karachi Kings a strong start to their PSL 11 campaign, highlighting their ability to recover under pressure and deliver with both bat and ball.
For Quetta Gladiators, despite a powerful start led by Shamyl Hussain, the lack of support in the middle and lower order proved costly as they fell short in the chase.
