Prasidh Krishna Holds Nerve as GT Edge DC in Thriller
Gujarat Titans clinched a dramatic one-run victory over Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026, with Prasidh Krishna delivering under immense pressure in the final over. Prasidh Krishna last-over brilliance sealed GT’s first win of the tournament in a match that went down to the final ball.
Chasing 211, Delhi Capitals fell agonisingly short at 209 for 8 despite a stunning knock from KL Rahul and a late assault from David Miller.
Final-over drama seals the game
Delhi needed 13 runs from the final over, with Prasidh Krishna handed the responsibility despite conceding 41 runs in his previous three overs. With only four fielders allowed outside the circle due to a slow over rate, the challenge was even greater.
Vipraj Nigam started the over with a boundary but fell on the next ball, caught by Shubman Gill. Kuldeep Yadav managed a single, leaving the equation to Miller.
With eight required off three balls, Prasidh missed his length and Miller smashed a six over long-off. However, in a crucial moment, Miller refused a single off the penultimate delivery with two needed from two balls.
Prasidh responded with a slower bouncer on the final ball, which Miller failed to connect. Jos Buttler then completed a direct-hit run-out of Kuldeep Yadav from behind the stumps, sealing a remarkable win.
Miller reviewed the final delivery for a possible wide but replays upheld the decision, confirming Gujarat Titans’ victory.
Rahul’s brilliance goes in vain
KL Rahul anchored Delhi Capitals’ chase with a superb 92 off 52 balls, marking a return to form after scores of 1 and 0 in his previous outings.
He brought up his half-century in just 29 balls, batting with fluency and attacking intent. Rahul was particularly dominant against the fast bowlers, dispatching Kagiso Rabada over deep square and taking on Prasidh Krishna with authority.
Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Rahul kept Delhi in contention. However, his dismissal — caught behind off Mohammed Siraj — proved a turning point, leaving Delhi needing 45 from the final three overs.
Rashid Khan turns the tide
Rashid Khan played a crucial role in restricting Delhi’s innings. After conceding just nine runs in his first two overs, he struck twice in quick succession during the middle overs.
He dismissed Nitish Rana with a googly after an earlier lbw decision had been overturned, before removing Sameer Rizvi with another sharp delivery. Rashid also accounted for Axar Patel, finishing with figures of 3 for 17.
These breakthroughs briefly shifted momentum towards Gujarat Titans, even as Rahul continued to lead the chase.
GT’s batting sets up the win
Gujarat Titans posted 210 for 4, powered by half-centuries from Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler and Washington Sundar.
Buttler launched the innings aggressively, smashing four sixes in his first 15 balls en route to a quickfire 52. Gill followed with a composed 70, overcoming early discomfort to anchor the innings.
Washington Sundar, promoted to No. 4, contributed a vital 55, registering his maiden IPL fifty and ensuring GT maintained momentum through the middle overs.
Despite scoring only 49 runs in the final five overs, GT had built enough of a cushion to withstand Delhi’s late charge.
What this means
The result gives Gujarat Titans their first win of IPL 2026, while Delhi Capitals suffer their first defeat after opening with two victories.
In a format where fine margins often decide outcomes, this match highlighted how execution in the final moments can shape results, with Prasidh Krishna’s final over proving decisive.
