The PCB selection committee has been reshaped after the Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed changes to its national men’s selection panel following the resignation of former elite umpire Aleem Dar.
The development was reflected on the PCB’s official website, which now lists a four-member selection committee consisting of former Pakistan captains Misbah-ul-Haq and Sarfaraz Ahmed, alongside former fast bowler Aaqib Javed and former Test batter Asad Shafiq.
Aleem Dar steps down as selector
Aleem Dar’s exit from the panel comes after a relatively short tenure. The former international umpire had been appointed as a selector on October 11, 2024.
His departure follows reports suggesting that disagreements had emerged during recent selection discussions.
According to sources, Dar — a multiple-time ICC Umpire of the Year — had become frustrated with the dynamics of the selection meetings, where he reportedly felt sidelined during the decision-making process.
New four-member panel confirmed
With Dar stepping down, the PCB has confirmed the updated composition of the selection committee.
The panel will now consist of:
- Misbah-ul-Haq
- Sarfaraz Ahmed
- Aaqib Javed
- Asad Shafiq
Both Misbah and Sarfaraz bring significant leadership experience to the committee, having previously captained Pakistan at the international level.
The revised structure signals the PCB’s decision to rely on former international players and experienced figures to oversee the national team selection process moving forward.
