National T20 Cup 2026: Abbottabad Begin Campaign with Dominant Win Over Multan

Half-centuries from Kamran Ghulam and Shahzaib Khan powered Abbottabad to an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Multan in the National T20 Cup 2026 at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar on Sunday.

After opting to bat first in the third match of the tournament, Multan posted an imposing 203/6 in their 20 overs thanks to strong contributions from Moheer Saeed and Muhammad Shahzad.

Moheer led the scoring for Multan with an explosive 76 from 41 deliveries. His innings included eight fours and four sixes. Shahzad provided a late surge with an unbeaten 54 off just 26 balls, striking four fours and four sixes.

Wicketkeeper batter Bismillah Khan also played an important role, scoring 45 from 30 deliveries, which included six boundaries and one six.

For Abbottabad, Shadab Khan was the most effective bowler, claiming three wickets for 35 runs in his four overs. Shahab Khan and Razaullah supported him with one wicket each.

Ghulam and Shahzaib lead the chase

Chasing a challenging 204-run target, Abbottabad delivered a commanding response with the bat.

Kamran Ghulam anchored the innings superbly, finishing unbeaten on 95 from just 48 balls. His match-winning knock featured seven fours and five sixes.

Shahzaib Khan complemented him with a fluent 52 from 42 deliveries, hitting three fours and two sixes. The pair also stitched together a crucial 79-run partnership for the second wicket, which put Abbottabad firmly in control of the chase.

Abbottabad eventually reached the target with eight wickets in hand.

For Multan, Hasan Hafeez and Ali Majid managed to claim one wicket each.

Abbottabad move to top of Group B

The convincing win lifted Abbottabad to the top of the Group B standings in the National T20 Cup 2026.

Meanwhile, Multan slipped to the bottom of the group after suffering defeat in their opening match.

Kamran Ghulam was named Player of the Match for his outstanding unbeaten 95 during the successful run chase.
