RawalPindiz Announce Replacement for Injured Naseem Shah

Naseem Shah during a PSL match before injury setback

RawalPindiz have moved quickly to address their bowling setback in PSL 11, confirming Mubasir Khan as a partial replacement for the injured Naseem Shah.

The franchise announced the update after it was confirmed that Naseem Shah sustained a side injury during their clash against Karachi Kings, ruling him out for the foreseeable future.

Mubasir confirmed as partial replacement

As a precautionary measure, RawalPindiz have brought in all-rounder Mubasir Khan as a temporary replacement while the medical team continues to assess Naseem’s recovery.

Mubasir previously featured in the seventh and eighth editions of the Pakistan Super League for Islamabad United. Across 14 matches, he scored 49 runs and claimed two wickets.

The team management has indicated that a final decision regarding Naseem Shah’s availability for the latter stages of PSL 11 will depend on his rehabilitation progress and medical clearance.

Ben Sears strengthens pace attack

In addition to Mubasir’s inclusion, RawalPindiz have reinforced their squad by signing New Zealand fast bowler Ben Sears.

Sears joins the franchise for PKR 2.5 crore and is set to make his PSL debut. His signing comes after injuries to key pacers Naseem Shah and Zaman Khan.

The New Zealand international brings experience from global T20 competitions, including Major League Cricket, where he represented Washington Freedom. Internationally, he has taken 31 wickets in 27 T20Is and ten wickets in four ODIs.

Zaman Khan replaced after injury setback

RawalPindiz were further hit by injury concerns when Zaman Khan suffered a dislocation of the acromioclavicular joint in his right shoulder while fielding for Faisalabad against Peshawar in the National T20 Cup 2026.

He has been replaced in the squad by Jalat Khan as the franchise continues to manage multiple absences within their bowling unit.

What this means

With key fast bowlers sidelined, RawalPindiz are being forced to reshape their attack mid-tournament. The additions of Mubasir Khan and Ben Sears provide short-term depth, but the team’s prospects will depend heavily on how effectively these replacements step up in Naseem Shah’s absence.

Led by Mohammad Rizwan, RawalPindiz will next face Quetta Gladiators on 10 April in PSL 11.
