Farhan, Philippe Fire as Sultans Cruise Past Rawalpindiz

Sahibzada Farhan batting during PSL 11 match for Multan Sultans

Multan Sultans continued their dominant run in PSL 11 with a commanding seven-wicket victory over Rawalpindiz, powered by Sahibzada Farhan and Josh Philippe. Sahibzada Farhan’s innings once again proved decisive as Sultans chased down 183 with ease, finishing on 186 for 3 with nearly four overs to spare.

Rawalpindiz had posted 182 for 8, but the total never looked enough against a side in such commanding form.

Farhan, Philippe take control early

Multan Sultans made a strong start to the chase despite losing Steve Smith early to Mohammad Amir.

Sahibzada Farhan and Josh Philippe then took charge, putting together a match-defining 110-run partnership off just 58 balls. Farhan led the charge with an aggressive 68 off 38 balls, continuing his excellent run in the tournament.

Philippe provided ideal support, scoring 56 and registering his second half-century of PSL 2026. The pair attacked Rawalpindiz’s bowling relentlessly, with Farhan taking on Amir and Philippe accelerating through the middle overs.

By the halfway stage, the game had effectively slipped away from Rawalpindiz after a series of sixes, including four in one over off Rishad Hossain.

Sultans complete comfortable chase

Although Rawalpindiz managed to dismiss both set batters — Farhan to a yorker from Amir Khan and Philippe to Mohammad Amir — the damage had already been done.

With the required rate barely above a run a ball, Shan Masood and Ashton Turner completed the chase comfortably, sealing the win with plenty of overs to spare.

Faisal Akram dismantles Rawalpindiz

Earlier, Multan Sultans set up the win with a strong bowling performance led by Faisal Akram.

The left-arm wrist-spinner returned figures of 4 for 31, using his variations effectively to break partnerships and halt Rawalpindiz’s momentum. His spell proved decisive during the middle overs, where Rawalpindiz struggled to accelerate.

Between the eighth and 12th overs, Rawalpindiz managed just 28 runs in 27 balls while losing three key wickets, including Daryl Mitchell.

Late resistance lifts Rawalpindiz total

Rawalpindiz showed glimpses of resistance through Kamran Ghulam and Abdullah Fazal, but their progress was disrupted by regular wickets.

Dian Forrester provided a brief burst of momentum, hitting three consecutive sixes off Mohammad Nawaz, but lacked support from the other end.

Sam Billings then anchored the finish with an unbeaten 56 off 34 balls. He farmed the strike effectively in the closing overs, helping Rawalpindiz score 43 runs in the last four overs to reach 182 for 8.

However, on a surface offering little assistance to bowlers, the total proved insufficient against Multan Sultans’ in-form batting line-up.

What this means

Multan Sultans’ all-round performance reinforces their status as early favourites in PSL 11, combining disciplined bowling with aggressive and controlled chasing.

For Rawalpindiz, the defeat highlights the difficulty of defending sub-200 totals in high-scoring conditions, especially against a batting unit in strong form.
