New Zealand Squad For Bangladesh Tour 2026 Announced
New Zealand have confirmed their white-ball squads for the upcoming Bangladesh tour featuring key returns and a temporary leadership change.
Tom Latham will captain both the ODI and T20I sides, with regular skipper Mitchell Santner unavailable due to his IPL commitments with Mumbai Indians.
Key returns boost squad depth
New Zealand welcome back several players returning from injury ahead of the Bangladesh tour.
Will O’Rourke (back injury) has been named in the ODI squad, Matt Fisher (shin issue) returns in the T20I squad, while Blair Tickner (ankle injury) has been included in both squads.
Dean Foxcroft also returns to the white-ball setup for the first time since April 2024 after an impressive domestic season, where he scored 435 runs in 11 innings for Central Districts in the Ford Trophy.
Head coach Rob Walter praised the returning trio and emphasised the importance of depth in the squad.
“Will, Blair and Matt have been working very hard over the past few months to get themselves back on the park and back in contention for selection, and we’re pleased to welcome them back into the group,” Walter said.
“With the amount of cricket being played in the modern game, having depth in our bowling stocks is key. Having players of this quality come back is great for our side,” he added.
New inclusions and squad continuity
Muhammad Abbas and Adi Ashok have been included in the ODI squad following their involvement in the New Zealand A one-day series in Sri Lanka.
Kristian Clarke and Ben Sears have been selected in both squads, while Jayden Lennox retains his place after being part of New Zealand’s historic series win against India in January and could make his T20I debut.
Tour schedule and venues
New Zealand are scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on April 13.
The ODI series will begin at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, with matches on April 17 and April 20. The third ODI will take place in Chattogram on April 23.
The T20I series will start in Chattogram, with matches on April 27 and April 29, before the teams return to Dhaka for the final T20I on May 2.
