Quetta Gladiators vs Hyderabad Kingsmen PSL 11 Match Result

Quetta Gladiators beat Kingsmen PSL 11 match result

The Quetta Gladiators secured their first win of the season with a disciplined all-round performance, successfully defending 175 on a challenging surface.

Defending a total that looked below par on a pitch where 215 and 172 had been chased the previous day, Gladiators exposed Kingsmen’s fragile batting line-up with a controlled bowling display.

Early breakthroughs set the tone

Gladiators needed early wickets and got exactly that when Alzarri Joseph struck in the opening over, dismissing Saim Ayub with a sharp bouncer.

Despite that over conceding 17 runs due to edges from Marnus Labuschagne, Abrar Ahmed quickly regained control. He removed Maaz Sadaqat and Usman Khan in the second and sixth overs, leaving Kingsmen struggling at 37 for 3 at the end of the powerplay.

From there, Kingsmen never managed to recover as Gladiators continued to chip away with regular wickets, keeping the chase firmly under control.

Kingsmen falter in chase

Kingsmen lacked stability throughout the innings, with no significant partnerships developing to mount a serious challenge.

Hassan Khan provided a brief spark with a quickfire 31, offering hope to the dressing room, but his dismissal in the 15th over ended any realistic chance of a comeback.

The repeated loss of wickets ensured Kingsmen were never in control of the chase, highlighting issues in their batting depth.

Shamyl and Nawaz rebuild Gladiators innings

Earlier, Gladiators themselves faced early setbacks after captain Saud Shakeel opted to bat first, losing two quick wickets.

However, a crucial 89-run partnership off 64 balls between Shamyl Hussain and Hasan Nawaz revived the innings.

Shamyl, playing just his second PSL match, registered another half-century, showing maturity by adjusting his approach after early wickets.

The pair focused on strike rotation and selecting scoring opportunities, stabilising the innings effectively.

Late cameo pushes Gladiators past 170

After the dismissals of Shamyl and Nawaz, Gladiators briefly lost momentum, losing four wickets in the space of 14 balls.

Maheesh Theekshana, on PSL debut, struck twice in quick succession, dismissing Khawaja Nafay and Ben McDermott on consecutive deliveries.

However, Tom Curran’s late cameo of 31 off 18 balls proved vital, pushing Gladiators beyond the 170-run mark, which ultimately proved enough.

What this result means

This win gives Quetta Gladiators their first points of the season, demonstrating their ability to defend totals through disciplined bowling and partnerships.

For Kingsmen, back-to-back defeats highlight concerns, particularly with batting inconsistency and costly fielding errors, including dropped catches and no-balls, which continue to impact their performances.
