Match 3 of PSL 11 between Peshawar Zalmi and RawalPindiz saw Zalmi secure a five-wicket win in a high-scoring contest at Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.

Chasing a daunting target of 215, Peshawar Zalmi reached the total with five wickets in hand, thanks to key contributions from Babar Azam, Mohammad Haris, Kusal Mendis, Abdul Samad and Michael Bracewell.

Zalmi chase powered by strong top order

Zalmi began their chase in dominant fashion as Mohammad Haris and captain Babar Azam put together a rapid 50-run stand inside five overs.

The opening pair extended their partnership to 78 before Asif Afridi dismissed Babar for 39 off 28 balls, which included four fours and a six.

Haris continued the momentum, scoring 47 off 28 deliveries with four fours and two sixes, before falling to Amad Butt. At that stage, Zalmi were 96 for 2 in 10 overs.

Kusal Mendis then accelerated the innings, adding quick runs alongside Aaron Hardie. However, Hardie struggled and was dismissed for eight off 10 balls by Rishad Hossain, leaving Zalmi at 128 for 3 in 13.3 overs.

Mendis contributed 31 off 17 balls, hitting one four and two sixes, before being dismissed by Amad Butt on the first ball of the 15th over.

Abdul Samad and Michael Bracewell then steadied the chase with a crucial partnership, pushing Zalmi past the 150-run mark.

Samad played a fiery knock of 33 off just 11 balls, smashing one four and four sixes, before being dismissed by Mohammad Amir.

Aamir Jamal then made an immediate impact, hitting a six off his first ball against Naseem Shah and guiding Zalmi past 200.

The match was sealed on the first ball of the final over, with Jamal unbeaten on 17 off five balls, while Bracewell remained not out on 35 off 17 deliveries, including one four and four sixes.

RawalPindiz post imposing total

Earlier, RawalPindiz posted 214 for 4 in their 20 overs after a commanding start.

Openers Yasir Khan and captain Mohammad Rizwan dominated early, putting together a 50-run partnership and later extending it to 125.

Rizwan scored 41 off 32 balls, hitting five fours and a six, before being dismissed by Ali Raza in the 13th over.

Yasir Khan led the innings with an impressive 83 off 46 deliveries, including seven fours and six sixes, before also falling to Ali Raza in the 15th over.

Kamran Ghulam and Daryl Mitchell added 41 runs to keep the momentum going, with Ghulam scoring 37 off 20 balls, including two fours and three sixes, before being dismissed by Aaron Hardie.

Daryl Mitchell made 23 off 13 balls with two sixes before being dismissed by Aamir Jamal on the first ball of the final over.

Sam Billings finished unbeaten on 18 off eight balls, including one four and two sixes, while Abdullah Fazal added five runs.

Ali Raza was the pick of the bowlers for Zalmi with figures of 2 for 42 in three overs, while Hardie and Jamal claimed one wicket each.

What this result means

This win gives Peshawar Zalmi a strong start to their PSL 11 campaign, highlighting their batting depth and ability to chase big targets.

For RawalPindiz, despite a strong batting display, their bowling attack struggled to contain the chase, exposing areas that need improvement as the tournament progresses.
