Sahibzada Farhan named ICC men’s Player of the Month for February 2026
Sahibzada Farhan ICC Player of the Month recognition has been awarded after the Pakistan opener delivered a standout campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka.
Farhan finished as the highest run-scorer of the tournament, compiling 383 runs in seven matches (six innings) at an average of 76.60. His tally included two centuries and two half-centuries.
Record-breaking World Cup campaign
Farhan’s performances came at a strike rate of 160.25, underlining his impact at the top of the order.
During the tournament, he surpassed Virat Kohli’s long-standing record for the most runs in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.
He also became the first batter to score two centuries in a single global event in the shortest format, achieving the feat against Namibia and Sri Lanka.
Key performances and milestones
The 29-year-old registered scores of 47, 73, 0, 100*, 63 and 100 across seven matches.
He also played a role in a record 176-run partnership with Fakhar Zaman, the highest for any wicket in T20Is.
Despite a five-run win over co-hosts Sri Lanka in that match, Pakistan failed to qualify for the semi-finals due to net run rate.
Farhan’s performances lifted him to a career-best second position in the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings following his century against Sri Lanka in Pallekele.
Recognition and reaction
This marks Farhan’s first ICC monthly award. He is also the first male Pakistan player to win the honour since Haris Rauf in November 2024.
“It’s an incredible feeling to win this ICC award, especially for performances on the World Cup stage, where fans from all over the world are watching every moment. That makes it even more special,” Farhan said.
“It was truly a tournament I’ll always cherish, and I’m determined to carry this momentum forward in the series and competitions ahead. I’m deeply grateful to my teammates for their constant support and belief in me – this wouldn’t have been possible without them.”
Farhan’s ICC Player of the Month award highlights his emergence as a key figure in Pakistan’s T20 setup.
His record-breaking World Cup campaign and rise in the ICC rankings underline his growing influence, setting a strong platform for future international performances.
