Marnus Labuschagne Appointed Hyderabad Kingsmen Captain for PSL 11
Marnus Labuschagne PSL captain news sees the Australian batter take charge of debutant franchise Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11, set to run from March 26 to May 3.
The franchise confirmed the appointment on Monday through its official social media platforms, unveiling a 26-second video showing a private jet dropping leaflets over Hyderabad announcing Labuschagne as captain.
Labuschagne had joined Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen as a direct signing ahead of last month’s historic players’ draft for an undisclosed amount.
Labuschagne brings experience despite limited T20 exposure
The right-handed batter has been a key part of Australia men’s cricket team in longer formats since making his international debut against Pakistan in 2018.
However, his experience in T20 internationals is limited, with just one appearance, which came against Pakistan in 2022.
In overall T20 cricket, Labuschagne has played 59 matches, scoring 1381 runs at an average of 26.55, including eight half-centuries.
He also offers a useful spin-bowling option, having taken 40 wickets in T20s at an average of 20.05.
Kingsmen set for PSL debut
Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen will begin their PSL 11 campaign in the tournament opener against Lahore Qalandars at the Gaddafi Stadium on March 26.
The upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League will run until May 3.
